Privacy Policy

Short version: HotSpot does not collect, store or sell any personal data. There are no accounts, no ads and no analytics. Everything happens directly between your own devices.

Who we are

HotSpot is made by KOLABX Entertainment Private Limited ("we"). This policy covers the HotSpot apps for iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows, and this website.

What HotSpot does

HotSpot lets one device download a file faster by using the mobile data of other phones nearby. Phones that share their data relay the download's internet traffic for the device that is downloading.

Information we collect

None. We do not run servers that receive your data, and the apps contain no analytics, advertising or tracking code.

Information that stays on your devices

Name and session code. The name you type (for example "Rahul – Jio") and the session code are shown to the other devices in your session on the same network so you can recognise each other. They are stored only on your device.
Downloaded files. Files are saved on the downloading device only. Sharing phones never store them.
Settings. Your data limit and similar preferences are stored only on your device.

Internet traffic

When you share your data, your phone opens connections to the websites the downloading device asks for and passes the bytes along. Secure (HTTPS) downloads stay encrypted end to end, so the sharing phone cannot read them. The websites involved will see the sharing phone's internet address, as with any connection. Only devices that know your session code can use your data, and you can set a data limit or stop sharing at any time.

Local network

HotSpot uses your local network (Wi-Fi or a phone's hotspot) to find the other devices in your session. This discovery happens only on that network and is not sent to us.

Children

HotSpot does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
